Here are some comparison clips between Ultimate Attenuator, Marshall PB100, Weber and Tubejuice. Guitar KZ Pro, Fryer DeLuxe TB and Vox AC30TBX. Recorde at bedroomlevels. The idea of this demo was to show peole in the Brian May world what to expect from these ones on lower settings/volumes.

  • @ersemola Hi! The Marshall and THD are the most transparent and as you say many of the other cuts dynamics, lows and highs. But if you´re using a Marshall amp etc I guess this can be compensated on the amp. I run AC30s flat out and on the Normal channel so I have to use a the most transparent and then I find the Marshall PB100 the very best. In your case I´m not sure how important 200W is as you run a 100W amp. If you run it flat out then maybe. The impedance is however VERY important.

  • @petermichalowski hi! wich is the best guitar power attenuator? i know that they tend to cut bass or highs, so wich one would cut less the bass and treble? or maybe there is one with an add eq for this problem? then i have a 100w power amp, people say me i need 200w attenuator. thx

  • is that ultimate attenuator the one with the gold front? it looks on the web page like a different one. I like the sound. It looks almost blue and white there, and is the picture flipped cuz on the web page it is much different

  • yes!

  • @LukeSniper I´ve heard this too. I also had the THD but sold it just before I recorded this clip. I might some old clip comparing the Weber, THD and Marshall. It is pretty close but the THD is a lot more fizzy on high attenuation=bedroom volume

  • @petermichalowski My experience with the Power Brake is that they are REALLY varied. I've played through 4-5 of them, all on the same amp, and they all sounded very different. It seems that some of them just got that perfect combination of parts that made them great, but the quality control was pretty weak in general.

It's a shame that you didn't include the Hot Plate. I've always preferred that one, and it would have been nice to hear it against some of these others that I haven't tried.

  • @petermichalowski yeah, i kinda knew there was a way to put the attenuator between the amp and speaker on a combo amp

  • Brian May fan much?
