Haha man when your dealing in sub frequency you dont need a great amp I'm using the Kenwood amp for my NHT SW-2 subs, I use a PS Audio Delta 200 and PS audio 6.0 on my Vandersteens and Thiels,got a messenger? I'd like to talk some audio see what ya got n what not.

I was a mastering engineer for a few years, I was the final audio fix it man before duplication ... some thoughts.

After a certain point, the quality of the gear stops making a difference, and the room starts to take over - this happens sooner than most think: in the recording, I can hear the room, it's boxy ... you'll have to soak up and diffuse the hard reflections: and things will improve. Well placed bookcases are great for diffusion, and good old foam in the right places helps ...

Looking at your system, you are not enjoying the full benifit of it, nor the potential of the components.

What I see is typical of amiture audiophiles who do not understand acoustics. I too was once there.

What we see in this video is the typical setup that most feel will produce the best sound...the equipment set up between the speakers and the speakers close to the walls.

Move the speakers out into the room, away from the walls and see what happens! You will be supprised!

For those of you that think audiophile and rock and roll don't go together you should broaden your horizions and break out of that old paradigm. I collect and listen to music from about every genre and I have been an audiophile for years. And the other guy who is laughing at the Kenwood should do some research about that M2A amp. Very good SUB amp with damping factor of 1000. He isn't running the Vandies with it. Midrange is too dry and clinical for audiophile warmth, I can empathize with that.

Its funny I have the same amp and the same speakers you do.

I have the M2A and the Vandersteen model 2.

But I also have a set of 12inch speaker labs running off the M2A

The only thing is I have a rattle with my the left speaker of the vandersteens I think the a wire is right against the sub in the vandersteens. But ya didn't think I would run into someone with the same system as me!!

Always wondered which would win the showdown between the Vandy'steen 2 series and Thiel Cs2....Calif vs Kentucky. Of course Thiel actually has an inexpensive bookshelf line made in...uh...in.....China.

My amps alone were 3K, I just can't afford the pre right now as thats another 700-1000 for the right one.I do need to get my hands on a nice CDP a Denon DCD-3560 but thats roughly another 2k.

shit get you a nakamaich amp, pre-amp, and cd player, my uncil gave me his nakamich set up which totalled $3,000 back in the day that ive got it to my theil CS3.7's
