Linux HOWTO #5: Movie Editing Magic with ffmpeg

This is the fifth installment in the Linux HOWTOS series. Every other week I will post a video explaining how to accomplish something using a GNU/Linux operating system. Please write requests for installments in the comments!

Non-linear video editing tools are great, but they're not always the best tool for the job. This is where a powerful tool like ffmpeg becomes useful. This tutorial covers the basics of transcoding video, as well as more advanced tricks like creating animations, screen captures, and slow motion effects.

If you have any questions, please ask in the comment field, and I or someone else will do our best to answer. Please avoid 'RTFM'-style answers. They are not welcome. Also please post corrections if I mistakenly give some wrong information.
