The piano collections version of slide show part 2. This is pure sight reading by the way. As in '1 take'

  • god, ive been playing for 7 years and i still have never gotten the hang of sight reading... i have an excellent memory for playing harder songs without any sheet music, but my brain doesnt seem to process notes and note lengths if i try to sight read straight off... whats the best way (and cheapest way) of learning to sight read?

  • Well I used to just spend a lot of time when I was younger sight reading.

The more you do it the better you become(obvious?)

Also sometimes you can sometimes predict what the part says without having to read it lol

Basically you are going to make mistakes the first time you play through something but dont start to practice it just sight read something else(and I mean 1 take dnt sto to learn parts)

  • hey wow how long you bee studying? is it normal for a talented pianist like you have some minor mistakes on firts plays on sight reading? becase my piano teacher is very good but some times makes minor mistakes on first time reading on some sheet i take to him, by the way youre very good i loves this version ^^

  • Ive been studying piano for like 10 years. and yeah I would say its normal to make some mistakes on a first time read. Personally I can read most things prefectly up to a certain standard but after that I would need to spend time on it.

I recently bought the grade 8 sight reading books and could read most of it first time.

Remember that no matter how good you are we all make mistakes

  • You're madly talented if you really sightread'd it or even after running through the song just once.

And thumbs up for the improvisation! This video is appreciated.

  • yeah all of what you hear is sight reading.

I literally downloaded it about half an hour before this. If you listen carefully you should be able to hear the parts which are not quite right

Thanks again for your kind comments

  • @theosben I'd say for you to just buy a book and try sight reading a song and then not to revisit it and proceed onto the next one, that's how I practiced. Your teacher probably made you practice till perfection, not that it's bad, but you should just get random music and do what I stated above in order to hone your sight reading abilities.

  • niceeeeeeeeee

  • niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • the tempo is great not to fast or slow just like the video game regardless of errors 5/5

  • sorry whot song is this ??

    (the Name)

  • I think the most important thing you can do is to read the sheets while practising (even if you already now the piece). Pretend you don't know the piece and read the sheets until you are 200% sure you can play it without stopping.

Well.. this was the most effective for me. Also someone told me to try a very easy piece and play through it (sight reading) without stopping at all. That might improve your note readig speed I think :)

I'm still not good, but I'm improving faster now.

  • nice, can definitely hear the errors, but since you're sight reading straight after getting the score..that's pretty insane work.

    awesome playing matey.

  • OH i hope i get that good at your age because im a lil bit old (21 years) but many people get a good level after 5 years of studying so ill try to do my best, basically final fantasy music is my favorite almost al vgm classical an pop music hehe your reply really helped
