Why drivers don't like bicycles on the road...

@PeowPeowPeowLasers Nobody has any more right than anyone else to the road... BUT Newton trumps everything else. As a motorbike commuter I know that I am completely vulnerable to stupid cagers. So to account for this I stay out of their way and never put myself in a situation where I am trusting the car to do the right thing. This is self preservation. No good being right if you're dead.
The numpty on the bicycle in this video hasn't learned that lesson yet.

@usagora I thought the weave was was like a "Scottish Wino" than a "Pacific Boardwalk".
-
@PeowPeowPeowLasers If I was the bike I'd have slowed down to let the car pass before the corner, or sped up through it. Too many people would try to pass IN the corner.

@usagora You condescending offensive plonker, I am not missing the point, your point is just so ignorant that I'm amazed anyone could try and make it.
The cyclist isn't doing anything other than using the road. There's no way if he pulled to the right that anyone could safely overtake him.
He isn't refusing anyone the right to use the road. Only in the tiny mind of your average ignorant motorist could anyone ever believe that the roads are their right of way, and to hell with everyone else.

@Scruit I never drive so quickly I can't stop in the distance I can see to be clear ahead, and have therefore never had a problem with any hazard I encounter.
Golden rule of driving. Anyone who can't deal with a cyclist in the road shouldn't be driving, full stop.

@PeowPeowPeowLasers Have you encountered a cyclist weaving slowly in a blind 55mph corner?
Don't forget this is America. Petrol is cheap and people live further away from work. I commute 60 miles per day. At an average of 15mph I would spend 4 hours per day commuting.

@usagora What about the massive amount of time lost to me when I'm required to drive my car, and encounter a traffic jam caused by thousands of commuting motorists who could easily make their commute by bicycle? Are you going to whinge and complain about those people, or just the odd cyclist who's a bit slow?
I have never, in my 20 years of driving, been delayed by cyclists. Ever. They are as much a part of the road as traffic lights or busy junctions. If you don't like it, get the bus.
-
@usagora This video doesn't show a busy city though, does it? So what you're on about I don't know. I'm not sure you do either.

There was not a paved shoulder; I wouldn't have gotten over either.
What an idiot.... plus he had no safety gear....

@Scruit It seems to me that what you're really saying is that you wish the cyclist wasn't holding you up. He's a valid road user, and not doing anything wrong, and I don't see what there is to complain about. Your driving was fine, IMO.
