If I heard of another person in the walker/gaited community doing that I'd be willing to give it a shot, but since I've never heard of that method I wouldn't want to try it and mess up the horse. Besides, he's not my horse; he's my riding instructor's =]
It just depends how it would make him use his legs. A Tennessee walker has a 4-beat gait (the footfall pattern is the same as a walk, hence why it's called the running walk), so if the ace bandage tied to his butt made him use his legs differently it could affect his gait. It could possibly make it prettier, but the reverse effect could also happen. That's why I'm hesitant
He'd actually be a terrible hunter/jumper. He's a TWH and doesn't trot. Plus, he's extremely klutzy and often trips over 12" crossrails. haha. Thanks for the compliments, though!
Oh. That makes more sense.

Hmmmm. How so? I think it'd look prettier. (NOT that your horsey is ugly.)

If it required him to use his legs differently, it could affect his gait.

Nah, actually. I have a Belgian. How would it 'screw up'?

Do you know anything about gaited horses? I'd be willing to try that if I knew it wouldn't screw up his gait.

You should try putting an ace bandage around his
butt and tie the ends to the saddle, it'll make him use his legs more and might not be so klutzy.
