I saw a video on it, and the mouse kinda did what arrow keys do. It really wasn't a real GUI, and it came too early. The creator sold his patent to Apple for like 40,000 dollars or something, and they used it for their GUI.

You're spotting something important in documenting computer history... or discussing anything in fact... which is what the terminology means specifically. Whilst you could say this is technically a GUI it's still basically a text mode gui on a graphics screen. The Xerox alto was certainly a GUI and it was a succesor to this one which it is based on. I'd say this was the first GUI but it doesn't have a complete set of features of what we would recognise as a GUI from the Alto onwards.

But they don't mind everyone thinking they did. The media makes everyone think Apple made the first mouse, and they're glad people think that.

What was the company? There must have been some GUI they made for it. I am wondering what you would do with a GUI in the 60's. I thought Xerox was the original maker of the GUI.
-
Exactly, I read something about someone thinking it looked like a mouse's tail, so the name caught on. Next time someone says "Mices" as a plural form for the computer mouse, saying it doesn't refer to the actual animal, tell them otherwise. ;)

They never invented the mouse, and they never said they had invented it.

I understand that the mouse came out in the later 60's, but the GUI? How did they have a GUI? Was it a command line with a mouse? Xerox did the first GUI, but I don't understand this... Someone tell me please.

They never claim they invented anything. They let the media do that for them.

Apple never claimed they invented the mouse.

Who is touching a mouse right now?

That's pretty cool. But what does that thumb piano on the left do?

It's another programmable input device replacing some commands or keyboard keys
