Is it just me who is gobsmacked that the mouse is 41 years old? WOW! Ingenious device the mouse. Bill Gates' "the mouse is dead" speech was way too premature. He's going on about Windows 7 and all this touch screen malarkey. Utter tosh! Touch screen will live alongside the mouse for years yet. I for one don't fancy reaching to a screen two feet away 1000's of times per day, and speech recognition in Vista sucks anus. So the humble mouse is here for a long time yet, Mr Gates.
Well i think its called a mouse becuase the cable, that back then was placed on the to the side of ur arm (not to the tips of ur fingers like now) looked like a tail, and well the cable+ box looks like a mouse :D
