The incredibly sad theme of this song is expressed so deeply through Elizabeth's voice that if you close your eyes u suddenly find yourself under that trees and feel all the horror...The magnificent power of music...;)

brilliant here in this live version by Liz and the band, lets hope humanity has learned

just love Lizs live vocals here, and that stark musical accompaniment.

The song of course tells about violence,murder, and the oppression of

the black community, good to hear from you my friend.....!!!

pretty much darker version from the original by billie holiday, it's kind of a suicide song like gloomy sunday

@ALoveEternal Hi their, I,ve only ever heard this version myself,

it is an amazing live version, not sure if theirs any other studio-

recording of it though, but their may well be another live version

hanging around somewhere, its quite a rare track by them...

huh... is this the only recorded version of them playing it? Sounds too well 'put together' to be a live recording, but it is from their BBC recordings.
