Witness the most incredible free swimming bonito action ever caught on film (in redondo harbor that is).

Learn how to pull saltwater bass off pilings and docks using Big Hammer's "twitching Grub" and swimbaits.

visit swimbait.com for more information on the "square tailed swimbait" and other Big Hammer products.

  • Very cool vid. Bonita like to strike shiny fast lures like spoons, same as the macks. Usually, swimbaits don't really excite them enough to strike unless they are boiling on bait or already hunting. BTW, great job on advocating C&R!

  • @eliwoohoo the Bonito in the video aren't your typical bonito. They feed on micro bait in the morning and evening, and spend the day swimming lazily around the harbor. Spoons garner no attention, and swimbaits are often ignored. However, when you get on the right school at the right time, it can be very productive.

  • @eliwoohoo we have caught them on jerbaits, and the bubble and fly can be productive, but generally they don't fair any better than the swimbait. The fish in the open harbor are often more aggresive and respond better to such presentaions. The fact of the matter is the back bay fish just aren't always interested in taking a chomp, just like breezing yellows will sometimes swim right through your offering without even giving it a look. . Thanks for eliwoohoo!

  • hey man what rod and reel were u using cause i wana good smaller swimbait rod...cause i use my largemouth bass heavy fliping rod and a big old daiwa millionar reel on it...but its only good for throwing the 5inch baits or up

  • @xXcam0manXx

I fish either a Shimano Curado 200E7 on a Shimano Crucial MH Swimbait rod, or a Shimano Chronarch 200D7 paired with a Shimano Cumara 72MH.

  • wait, your saying its illegal to fish "from" the docks? or "along" the docks from shore?

I fish between the slips from shore but not on the docks, I've never had a problem.

  • @hunterfishman1 Technically speaking, unless you own a boat in the marina, you are not allowed to be on the docks unattended. Even boat owners are discouraged from fishing from anywhere other than the backs of their boats.
