Nancy Campbell Cartwright (born October 25, 1957) is an American film and television actress, comedienne and voice artist. Noted for her long-running role as Bart Simpson on the animated television series The Simpsons, she also voices other characters for the show, including Nelson Muntz, Ralph Wiggum, Todd Flanders, Kearney and Database.

In January 2009, Cartwright used Bart's voice in an automated telephone message to Scientologists inviting them to an event in Hollywood, California.

She opened the message in Bart's voice, saying "Yo, whats happenin' man, this is Bart Simpson", and then reverted to her normal voice, adding "Just kidding, dont hang up, this is Nancy Cartwright." Most of the rest of the message was recorded in her normal voice, although she did use Bart's voice three more times, ending the message with "See you there, man!" Al Jean, executive producer of The Simpsons said that "[the telephone calls were not] authorized by us. The Simpsons does not, and never has, endorsed any religion, philosophy or system of beliefs any more profound than Butterfinger bars."

In a 2000 interview with The Oregonian, Cartwright explained that while she owns her regular speaking voice, a character's voice is copyrighted. She can use Bart's voice in public but can not record original dialogue without approval.
In an interview with the New York Post, Matt Groening commented that the issue had been "blown up beyond what was intended" and that they had moved on.

I dont know what the criminal elements in the cult of scientology are doing to brainwash the celebrities, but it is certainly a different treatment than a normal poor bastard would receive. Remember out there, those who are working hard in the cult, are working to get the life comfortable for the celebrities, and they are doing it without pay.
