The Lady Gaga Protest

A Barney's window display of Lady Gaga's work has legendary multi-media performance artist Colette's notorious creations written all over it.

Colette, whose seminal performance art and multi-media installations originated out of New York City's vibrant art scene in the 1970's has traveled to museums and galleries all over the world; including the Guggenheim; MOMA; and The Whitney.

Upon seeing Barney's Lady Gaga window display in midtown, Colette takes to the streets in protest to send a clear message to the Gaga camp that Colette is standing outside the door and must be invited in and given proper respect.

Half of this looks staged, particularly the young girls who mistook her for lady gaga. But from what i read online, she accuses the singer of stealing her work for a Barneys display. Would like more information on it.

@sundersart hi, no, not staged. it was totally out of the blue and completely unexpected. watch colette turn around. she's surprised and so was i -- that's why i approached them with my camera mic and asked them to repeat their question, as i wanted to hear the question again to make sure they were actually asking what they asked: "are you lady gaga?" they may have been taking the piss, but i don't think so and it was definitely not staged.

Why in the worlds name would anybody think that old lady looks like Lady Gaga? Come on.,...staged! Pahlease! She should get over it.....she's mad cos shell be gone soon and no one remembered her....

Seems like a lame way of getting noticed tbh...I don't understand what she's getting at the only similarities both windows have is that they have a couture feel to them.
