this is a good vid. i think my fujifilm has10 at 30x optical is the same as your camera. i also have the digital zoom but almost never turn it on

I have one SX30 too. Too bad that I can't get a more clear image with the optical zoom. My old olympus could take better pictures. I guess that olympus company have the best lens because they sell microscope.

Hi! I learnt from your profile that you use a Canon Powershot SX30 IS. Well, I'm planning to buy a new Point and Shoot camera with a large zoom lens. The ones I have shortlisted are Olympus SP-800UZ and Kodak Easyshare Z981. I believe that you must have done sufficient survey before buying your Point and Shoot. So I'm seeking your guidance. Please advice!

I've used Canon cameras for a long time. I don't know whether they are the best but I have never experienced any major problems with them. Build quality is good as is image/video quality.

Thank you CanonEOSseries! The zoom in the SX30 IS is very powerful at 35x (850mm) and with the digital range extends upto 144x! The viewfinder though is not as good as the one on the SX20 :(
