For the most part Republican leadership don't want regulations on corporations and Democrats do. Democrats aren't perfect and I never said they were... but at least with them in control we have a fighting chance. The things Republicans have done, I wouldn't call them merits are blatantly obvious. Gramm Leach Bliley that striped the Depression era protections was written by 3 Republicans and voted in favor of by nearly 100% of Republican leaders. Democrats did vote for it, but not in the lockstep unanimous fashion that Republicans did. Defense budgets don't triple under Democrats, the price of gas doesn't triple with sensible regulations, whatever bills Jill likes that haven't passed are likely written by Democrats and being obstructed by Republicans. It's black and white to me... Republicans are dogmatic in their belief that the free market is the best way to go, and I think that's absurd for the reasons I stated in the video. If I hear the phrase "We need a freer market with less regulations" I know what party that person is speaking for. In this case, in these times when nearly ever important bill runs down party lines you are voting for party in one way or the other.
Democrats believe in education
we learned what happens when regulations are striped and regulatory agencies are staffed with people who don't want to enforce them. We learned and want to get it right going forward, Republicans would vote for it again tomorrow because that's what their self serving economic philosophy tells them.
Had to rush it out a bit without the music or sound effects.. final version still to come. But with the election coming tomorrow it had to go up now. Comments and suggestions appreciated.
