This clip is from Fearless Widget Production's "Flying The Finch," the first in a series of DVDs -- shot in Hi-Definition - on the world-famous "Tiger Boys" antique airplane collection, based at Ontario, Canada's Guelph Airpark. Bruce "Rotten" Paylor & Series Host Michelle Goodeve go for a flight in the Tiger Boys' 1940 Fleet Finch 16b biplane, set to the music of Lindsay Thomas Morgan. "Rotten" has been flying old airplanes since he was 12 years old. Michelle -- a Tiger Boys pilot herself - has been flying antiques since the age of 16, and is best known for her role as teacher Ms. Avery on the PBS/CBC cult-hit, "Degrassi Jr. High" (aka "Degrassi Old School.") 50% of the proceeds from the sale of these DVDs go to the restoration and upkeep of The Tiger Boys aircraft. • Cecil,

Just had to respond. My Dad served in the RCAF in 401 squadron. He was an aero engine mechanic under C.O. Don Blakesley. My Dad spoke very highly of him, saying he was the best C O that he served under (and there were many).

    Also enjoyed this vid,

    Regards,

    Joe

  • I flew in this plane this morning at the Guelph airbase,as part of the Tigerboy's open house.

Best 40 bucks I ever spent.

  • A big 'Hello' to you Fearless, Widget and Rotten from Paul 'Goliath' from Haliburton. Nice to see you all alive and kicking. Never did get my private pilot license (a kiwi) but brother David is still rebuilding a microlight when raising a family doesn't get in the way. I still think back to the fond memories of Lake St. John during the 70's and 80's. Hope I might hear from you, you look like you still know how to have fun.

  • Great video...Thanks for posting.

  • Glad to see the old girl back in the air. last time I saw her she was half rebuilt in Tom's hangar !:)

  • great music to the vid,

  • great music to the vid,

  • wonderful plane, lovely video. much thanks!

  • My Dad hitch-hiked from Eudora, Arkansas, to Canada in 1941 to join the RCAF. He soloed in the Fleet Finch and continued training in Harvards, etc.

He eventually flew P-47s and P-51s with the 4th Fighter Group of the USAAF 8th Air Force, Debden, England. He became one of the first five American fighter pilots over Berlin, Germany, flying with his CO, Col. Don Blakesley.

Prior to this video, I had never seen or heard a Fleet Finch in flight.

    Thanks for posting!
