  • Still remember the streets of Hong kong were not that busy in the 60's. Thanks for sharing.

  • My favourite novel is James Clavell's "Noble House".

I went to Hong Kong just because of it, and your video clip really puts me in the right feel of the time.

I have been to Hong Kong twice, and will most likely return.

  • 1:49 is Hong Kong during 1913 or 1920

  • New Zealand sucks,Hong Kong is better

  • Alas when HK was still British ...

  • sorry. I could say the title should be changed, most of the photos are 1920s to 1940s, only some are 50s. HK in 1960s was in fact a very modern actually, fully industrialised, with many cars and buses, and traffic jams, only a few richshaw remained, and the tallest building was already more than 30 storeys.

Thats why the govt needed to start building the Cross Harbor Tunnel and planning to build the subway system in 60s.

  • 好珍貴,我喜歡…回憶起舊香港。

  • Those days we took for granted the tranquility, the carefree strolling on the streets where there was not much traffic even on main streets like Queen's Road Central apart from buses passing by once in a while and so did trams along Queensway . Life was so at ease....those days will never be back...

  • wished i was living in that era; i wouldve invested heavily in properies, local businesses...

  • Looks like 40s and 50s to me.

  • When the old Kowloon Station was demolished in the mid-1970s the Government was forced to keep the tower because of the public outcry. So it is still a landmark near the Star Ferry.

  • When I arrived in HK from England it was 1972 and I was 30. Some of these scenes are before my time (I stayed 12 years) but some buildings were there. HK Club, the old Post Office, the three great banks, including the old Bank of China Building which still stands although now used differently. I bought a car from a man who was leaving HK and I often drove along the quiet road to Repulse Bay for an evening drink at the Drift Inn - run by Dairy Farm, I think. Even as late as 1972, HK was magical.
