Backstage Romance chapter 1 / preface

"One, and, two, and, three, and, one, and, two, and, let's, go, ladies!" Alex, the shoulders lengthen black haired cheerleading captain, called out.

Suddenly music flowed into the gym and Alex huffed with a glance the doors of the school's auditorium. It happened every day. Those damn theater geeks would act out scenes from plays and every day the music would leak into the gym where the cheerleaders were practicing. The end of the day bell rang and everyone gathered their stuff and left the gym.

They past the auditorium and pushed the geeks against the doors then walked away laughing. That too was also a thing that happened daily. They acted like a pack of wolves. Nether group would act alone or without their leaders. They also wouldn't attack someone not their rank... It was disrespectful, even if it was bullying they still had some respect.

The cheerleaders' leader was the captain, Alex Russo. Then her bes
t friend and co-captain, Harper Finkle, Then her top Flyer, Tawni Heart, then strongest base, then the stun members and finally everyone else.

The theater's leader was president Sonny Monroe. Vice president Nico, next lights controlled by Grady, then Zora in charge of stuns, Chad in charge of make-up and then everyone else.

Alex stopped and stared into the eyes of Sonny, the brunette president. She left without saying a word to the girl. Harper and her other top ranks head to her house to play.

When her parents had gone to bed and her brothers were gone, the cheerleaders huddled in a group. They began to whisper and Alex was nodding and Harper finally whispered, "Friday."

When they all settled to fall asleep in Alex's room, Alex just looked around her room unable to fall asleep. She was thinking about the feud between theater and cheer squad. Her aunt, Megan, had been one of the starting members of it when she was in high school. She hated Connie Monroe and since then the feud between theater and Cheer had been going. She didn't understand it. They both brought money into the school, but somehow theater was the one that was always looked down on.

Alex rolled over and did what homework she could in the dark, trying not to wake anyone. She sighed, not ready for Friday, tomorrow.
