Supergungun : the rate of practical discoveries are still exponential, we will discover more in 2020 than we have between 2000 and 2005.

This is why futurologists talk about a singularity by the year 2050, the technological evolution of mankind will be so fast, it will seem instantaneous. Supercomputers of that time will do most of the research for us and they'll discover new stuff everyday. Of course, technology implementation will take time, but it will still be much faster than it is today.

I doubt we'll advance any more than we have now. We've discovered everything practical. We should have stayed in a late 1940s/1950s/early 1960s era culture.
