The 2009 Lexus IS-F at the News and Record International Auto Show

In December 2006, Lexus announced its new F marque division.[8] The "F" refers to the Fuji Speedway in Japan, whose first corner, 27R, inspired the shape of the "F" emblem.[163] The first F badged vehicle, the Lexus IS F, subsequently premiered at the North American International Auto Show in January 2007.[8] Media reports suggested that the IS F sedan would be followed by a GS F sedan[164] and Lexus IS F coupe.[8] An earlier in-house tuning effort, the TRD-based L-Tuned, had offered performance packages on the IS and GS sedans in the early 2000s.[165]
The IS F is targeted at rivals from Mercedes-Benz's AMG and BMW's M divisions.[8] Historically, past versions of the SC and GS models have received favorable reactions from sport luxury buyers,[166] while other Lexus models have been characterized as favoring comfort at the expense of sporty performance.[24] Automotive reviewers have also given some of Lexus' German rivals higher marks for road feel and handling,[167] especially during racetrack testing. The F marque line has been seen as an effort to further bolster Lexus' performance credentials.[168]
In 2007, Lexus entered the IS F in the 2007 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, offering a factory-sanctioned performance accessory line in conjunction with the debut of its F marque division.[169]

  • would u trade ur es for a isf?

  • Umm, that's a real hard question haha, I love my car and have really grown attached to it, I would love to have the isf, but for the money i would probably step towards the 2010 Camaro or something like that (which is what I want in the future) I don't plan on getting rid of my car any time soon haha. It's like a car I would want but I wouldn't want to buy if that makes any sense lol.

  • I was there. The show it self was kind of a let down compared to last year

  • That's awesome, I always look forward to that show, and although they did have some nice stuff there, I was also disappointed, there was a ton of makes that didn't show

  • 4 exhausts?

  • This car to me doesnt really fit in when you class it up against mercedes c63 amg/BMW m3/ Audi s4............

    i mean...

mercedes-most hp and torque, fastest, and most robust....

    BMW-quikest, most percise, and lightest.

Audi-smooth, all wheel drive, and safe.

Lexus-...........well its great but, it doesnt really totaly out class any of the cars i just named....

its a good alternative if you kinda want to be different... but its nothing better then those i named...

    so its just preferance..

  • my brother got this car

  • Of course it's a nice car, but If I had the money I'll get the M3 hands down.... Cheaper, yes but at these prices who cares.

  • Lexus is my favourite automobile brand! & that car is beautiful...

  • The M5 is in a class all to it's own, that and the m3 are amazing machines, I really think it's just personal preference. Plus the m3 has a lot of history and development to back it up, lexus has done an amazing job though, I would definitely want this!
