Together, a Family Chp. 6

Michelle's P.O.V.

I don't know why I let my guard down, but I did. I just needed to feel loved because I had never been given affection, only pain. I fell asleep in Kevin's arms, unable to hide my exhaustion.

When I woke up, I was in another pair of arms. I opened my eyes to see Joe, and he was carrying me somewhere. I lifted my head off of his shoulder causing him to look down at me.

"Morning Ariel," he said softly. We rounded a corner and entered the kitchen.

"Ariel?"I asked. He smiled and sat down at the table next to Joe and Kevin. He placed me in a chair next to Nick.

"You're a princess, but not a boring one. I like Ariel the best, so that's your nickname from me," he explained. Nickname? I'd never had one before.

"If I'm Ariel, then you're either Flounder or Sebastian," I said back. I pondered it for a minute, "I think Sebastian." Joe chuckled.

I looked over at Nick, who had a anxious expression on his face.

"He got smart earlier and has a meeting with the brush later. It would be more if it wasn't for his leg," Kevin answred my gaze.

Nick looked over at me, and met my scared gaze. He reached over and picked me up. Placing me on his lap, he whispered, "I've had it coming. Don't worry, I'll be fine."

"W-What are we doing today?" I asked as Nick pulled my plate of eggs in front of me. I took a small bite.

"We're having some friends over for you to meet. Is that ok?" Joe asked.

"Are Dani, Demi, and Sel coming?" I asked.

"Most definitely," Nick whispered in my ear.

We continued eating. When everyone was finished, I got to my feet quickly and started grabbing plates. I had to get them cleaned before they got up. As I picked up the silver ware and turned to go back to the sink, a hand grabbed my arm.

I jumped in fear, and dropped the utensils I was holding. I shrunk down from the person who had ahold of me. "I'm sorry the dishes aren't done sir! Please don't beat me!"

The hand let go and a pair of arms were around me.

"Baby, we're not going to hurt you," Kevin told me. He pulled away to look at me. "I just wanted to stop you because it's Joe's day to wash dishes, and you need to take a shower."

I relaxed, and he gently shooed me up the stairs. I took a warm shower in the bathroom attached to my room. It was painted the same colors as my room, and had the bright colored towels and things that they had bought for me.

I changed into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I was a little cold. I walked into Nick's room. He was on Kevin's lap, crying into his shoulder. I slipped into Nick's closet and looked at all of his clothes. I spotted his pull-overs, and jumped to get one.

Why do I have to be so short? I jumped again, but accidently knocked off about ten of them. It made a loud racket causing Nick and Kevin to rush in. I looked up at them in fear, quickly saying, "I'm sorry!"

Nick crutched in, looked around the floor, then started laughing. "Kev, can you help her? I can't really bend down well."

Kevin chuckled too, then began picking up the clothing off the floor. He put it all back up on the rail, and they both looked at me. "What were you doing in here anyway?" Kevin asked.

"I was cold, and I wanted one of Nick's pull-overs," I told them.

Nick went out of the closet, and Kevin and I followed him. He picked up the pull-over he had been wearing this morning and handed it to me. "Wear this one, it's the warmest since I've been wearing it."

I slipped it over my head, then looked down. "I look like a navy blue jelly bean." This thing was like a dress on me. It stopped just below my knees. I flapped my arms, which were drowned by the sleeves.

I smiled up at my laughing brothers. "I like it."
