@Solarpassive Hey, you speak english. I'm in shock. Old school would have floated the entire wet area.Sand mix,Deck mud,Mortar mix are all bagged ready mix products. Dry pack can be called sand mix or deck mud, depends on where your at. Sand mix is less coarse than deck mud. Mortar has lime, when mixed, can be refered to as fat mud, float, or wall mud.A little dish soap, or lime in your sand mix will give you better workability than t-set.Concrete mix works good for the curb. Looks Professional.

This shower pan was built by me. It has a vinyl liner which goes up the wall 6 inches and wraps around and over the damn. I use mastic under the liner and smear a thin layer of thin set on it before I pack the pan. Also, I mix a certain amount of latex modified thin set into the sand mix. I learned how to do this from an old timer and he had been doing it for a long time. I will research "deck mud". The studs are firred out with 1/4 inch plywood down to the liner. Thanks for the comment.

Ah is that 'mud' pan made out of only cement? If so you apparantly dont know what deck mud is and why it's supposed to be used to build a shower.

@lan1870 It is deck mud, or sand mix as we call it around here. Trust me, this will last for 50 years. I have been packing mud pans for 18 years. It's not just plain cement. Thanks for the comment.

Nice work :) Finally someone who understands that a membrane is not an orange sheet or a red paint that some say to install over mud. I've done 1000+ mud showers with PVC and CPE and NEVER have had a single drop of water leak.

@B11video Thank you. Yes, the pvc or vinyl liner is secured to the surrounding area with mastic. and wraps around 2 2x4's that are under the permabase and the cement on the curb. Then the permabase is secured using thin set on the outside of the curb and inside has a layer also. Then the cement is packed into the pan with a slight slope. I use the 2x4's on the inside of the shower to hold the permabase in proper position. On the outside of the curb it is screwed. Thanks for comment
