What I did was I removed the radiator and you can see everything and easy access , I don't know if it is more work that way but I had fun working in my lady R1 2006 plus I change the cooling too.

I guess he never heard of using a rubber hose to install the plugs? He won't need anti-sieze after he cross threads the plug in the head.
