The True Story of Alexander the Great (part I)

Alexander the Great was king of the GREEK kingdom of Macedonia. Macedonia was an uderdeveloped Greek kingdom and that's why it was scorn by the more advanced. When Phlilppos II became king he invited scholars from the other Greek kingdoms and city states and he reformed Macedonia. It became a strong kingdom and Philippos managed to unite all Greeks into one single state. To do that he had to persuade the rest of the Greeks, Athens and Theba were the ones which opposed cause they did not want to lose their dominant place in the Greek world so they did not want this union. Philippos joined by the Greek kingdoms of Focea, Thessaly and Lokrous managed to win the battle of Chaeronia against Theba and Athens and the Greek union became a reality. One year after the battle of Chaeoronia, Philippos summoned the Greek assembly of Isthmus where he announced the beginning of the "Hellenic League" which was the unification of all Greeks under him. Philippos declared himself "chief general" of the united Greek army and he announced the upcoming campaign against Persia as a retaliation for their invasion against Greece.
