@cRaZyGurl91 it was because so many christian and catholic groups protested the ACTUAL music video for the song. because of this, they were also protesting pepsi ad their products. they finally banned the video in order to keep their profits.

beautiful ad... she speaks to her childhood... she tels her self as a child to "make a wish" implying that came true when she grew up (fame and success..)

I actually remember watching the video right after the commercial. It was after the Cosby show. I was around 10. I didn't have mtv then. I remember talking about it in school the next day, I talked about her tight dress. I see everywhere that the video premiered on mtv the next day.

@Jerz1983 Actually, I thought that He was what you said too, but he (Leon Robinson) was inteded to represent Saint Martin de Porres. So he wasn't a black version of Christ.

@Jerz1983 The wonderful thing is that when they were shooting the video Madonna actually said to the producer with a smirk "So are you going to have the burning crosses glinting on the Pepsi can?" to which the producer said, "What do you mean?" and she just smirked and said, "You'll see!" before walking away. Love her!
