This is just a little improv played on an Epiphone Dot Deluxe with Gibson Pickups through a Boss DS-1 (personally modified to my liking), a Dunlop JH-1 Wah (also modified to have an adjustable sweep range as well as a volume pedal switch), and into a Fender Blues Jr. The amp has the Twin Mod (Billm) giving me the ability to make it a bit less boxy sounding. I was playing this roughly in the style of SRV/Albert King.

  • i have a dot playing thru a blues driver and blues jr. how can i get your tone?

  • @brandedification Crank the TREBLE, leave the BASS around 10 and crank the MASTER. Play loud. Good overdrive tone at low volume is rare unless you have a VERY good attenuator. Pretend the master volume is not even there. Turn your volume up to about 5 and control the overdrive with your guitar's volume. The Blues Driver can be used for more sustain and creamyness, but you will sacrifice dynamics. Turn the tone to about 10 o'clock and gain way way down. Good luck!

  • like ur style. but it looked like it was in A# though. Doesn't really matter, it's all sassy blues to me :) good stuff

  • @TheArtfulDodger0402 Ahhh! Looks can be deceiving! My guitar was tuned down half a step. Thanks for the comment!

  • @eythan07 I was trying to play along and I thought you were in a different tuning, then noticed you were playing the scales just a step up, so I figured it was tuned down. Just wondering, why do you tune your guitar down a half step. That was a great solo and tone. Trying to learn blues through other videos, but this makes it a little harder. Just wondering

  • @tstewart01 Two reasons: If you ever listen to SRV, he tunes down half a step to Eb. Also, when you have heavier gauge strings on (I had 11s in this video) it makes it a tad easier to bend. The guitar will sound different too. More slap and pop to each note played because the strings are more loose. If you want to learn from some videos, you are welcome to check out my more recent videos where I'm playing with my telecaster and I'm tuned to standard.
