LA County Firefighters and CARE Paramedics worked to revive two dogs rescued from a fire Wednesday night in South Whittier. The fire was reported by neighbors around 8:15 PM. According to the Battalion Chief (on camera) firefighter arrived on scene and found a house with "heavy smoke and fire showing." When the firefighters conducted their primary search of the premises they found two dogs that "were unconscious and actively seizing". The rescuers carried the dogs outside and began "oxygen therapy on both animals." Both dogs, a 3 month old puppy and an adult dog, began to breathe on their own and were transported by their owner to a vet for follow up treatment. The cause of the fire is under investigation. One of the dog's owners (off camera) stated that the dogs had a "doggie door" and were outside before the fire but that they must have gone inside in an attempt to escape the blaze. No other injuries were reported from the fire.
