Psychologists CANNOT prescribe medicine

Psychiatrists CAN prescribe medicine. They have an M.D. Take it from a psychology student.

Licensed psychologists hold a doctorate in their field, while licensed psychiatrists hold a medical degree with a specialty in psychiatry.

It is psychiatrists that dispense medications, not psychologists.

Therefore, I think you and I would agree, psychologists are good guys that attempt to address the problem, whilst psychiatrists are the bad guys that attempt to address the symptoms.

They can know and relate to what your doing, im planning on becoming a psycologist because i was inspired to do so when i went through extrme anxiety in the form of panic attack that almost developed to agoraphobia(fear of open spaces). and if I make it to the stage of acctuallu become a psycologist ill be able t relate to them because of undergoing it myself, they are not allowed to tell you their problems probably because its not proffessional.

psychiatry= bad fuckers who dont understand anything to life.

psychologists= kinda useless but at least by talking to a neutral person about yourself YOU might figure out whats wrong with you. only if you want to.

i disagree. medicine is only given to people with an official diagnosis. i have ocd and i take medicine for it. it doesnt make you high or anything. the medication perscribed by psychiatrists doesnt make you unaware of whats happening or anything. the only side effects one might get from a particular type of medication would be slight fatigue and maybe a few stomach aches. you could say the exact same thing about medicine given to people with diabetes. if someone has a condition, you treat it.

Psychologists and Psychiatrists are not the same. Psychologists speak with people and if they feel its needed then they suggest meds which I personally don't agree with, but if the person is that upset that they may need medicine, then they can tell them that they should be prescribed something. Also obviously a psychologist doesn't know every situation a person has gone through, but if the person goes to them to talk about it they obviously know that, and they just want someone to help them.

I'm going to go ahead and say that the ones with PHDs are also jerks too. These people have a superiority complex. They think they are superior and better to the point where they don't want to help you. They are supposed to practice a psychology theory to help you but they don't. They challenge you, question you, probe you, harass you, etc. but none of that has anything to do with the profession of psychology.

I have a degree in psychology. It is a worthless field. Counselors and psychologists in general over-charge, are unprofessional, show up late to session, do not practice a theory that helps you as an individual, nor do they use techniques to help you, they are most often clueless and biased.

Psychiatry is pitiful too. It is not really based on science. Psychiatry: An industry of death is an excellent documentary.

first of all...only psychiatrists can prescribe medication.

second of all....the medication that they give out is to mentally ill patients such as people with OCD, Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, etc. Without these medications, the people might not be able to function in society.

Please do not make jokes mental health therapists/doctors because they are just doing their job.
