Angiostrongylus nematode worm in eye of puppy - surgical removal

The French Heart worm is spread by eating snails. The worm larva found in the snail migrate from the dogs intestines to reach the heart where the worms develope to maturity. Larval worms then leave the heart, enter the lungs and are coughed up. In this case some of the larvae have migrated to the eye. Both eyes contain live worms which are removed surgically.

The part where he put the parasite on top is idiotic. What happens if the worm swims to the sides? It could have escaped and cause more trouble later on.
