  • & yes, give me Raging Bull over Reds anytime. I think the majority would agree with that. Infact, unless they're a movie buff like you & me, I think I'd be hard-pressed to find anybody who has actually heard of Reds let alone seen it, & yet everybody's heard of Raging Bull. I guess winning the top honour off the Academy, does nothing to guarantee long-term mainstream, commercial success. Find out what Tarantino's views are on the 80's decade of the Oscars - it's not pretty.lol

  • @ardbastard1 I saw Reds, and yes, it's too long-winded. Though, the scene in the train just before the explosion is funny. Bull is just that...bull. LOL. J/K. And yeah, winning does not guarantee people watching them, but ads will be everywhere, advertising them for a re-showing via theater or cable just before the airing of the new show. The Oscars are the most ridiculous, entertaining, complex program. Tarantino on the 80s Oscars? Umm...maybe if it's on tv when there's nothing to watch. LOL.

  • You're right, Dances With Wolves & Goodfellas are both fantastic & on par with one another, but I just think that after the outrageous & absurd snub the Academy gave to Taxi Driver ( which in my opinion is one of the top five films ever-made) & Raging Bull in their years respective Best Picture categories, that for Scorsese to make a third masterpiece that is so multi-award-worthy, he should have had the edge, & it would've helped to compensate for his ridiculously overlooked previous efforts.

  • @ardbastard1 Goodfellas is his best. Taxi Driver is original and my favorite. I can't, and I'm sorry for this, I can't stand Raging Bull. There are scenes that are funny, even impressive. Scorsese handles the camera like no other. He's a genius behind it as is his generation of directors. But, considering the films nominated for 1980 I don't see why he didn't win. It stood out against the rest. Robert Redford must cringe whenever the subject gets brought up. LOL. Later,

  • I too still can't miss the Oscars, no matter how infuriated it can make me at times. When you have such massive adoration for cinema there's no way you could boycott something that primarily exists to showcase, & show it's appreciation to, quality filmmmaking, even though something happens every Oscar year that makes me say I will not watch it again.lol

  • @ardbastard1 Yeah. Whenever I see Sean Penn win and those pseudo-intellectual films win I do scream, changing the channel so as not to give it ratings. LOL.

  • linda looks so cute at 4:09!

  • I remember seeing Max Von Sydow in a fairly recent movie, and thinking, HOW is he still alive, because he looked to be in his 60's then! Well, know I know!

  • @bieberfever017 first of all i watched this movie when i was 10 years old (i was curious lol) i am 15 now. I am still creeped out by it.

  • Gosh I wannasee this!

  • Sorry, I got mixed up there & forgot it was Ordinary People that beat Raging Bull that year & not Reds (that's even worse mind lol). Even still, the point is still valid.

  • Scorsese is a genius. One of the very best, most passionate, most cerebral filmmakers America has produced. I think Taxi Driver was the first time I noticed just how much of an art-form handling a camera can be; Scorsese is a master behind the camera, his talent for filming & editing is second to none; It's poetry in motion. No wonder DeNiro has always been so willing over the years to play his protagonists. His films are so vibrant, so alive & energetic - he's a man devoted to his craft.:)
