0:36 - "He's beginning to annoy me!"
I really admire him for has graciousness in defeat and to keep his sense of humour - I mean that was his fifth consecutive defeat in the Final (his third consecutive Final defeat to Hendry!). I don't think many people could keep smiling in the face of so many near misses! But, Jimmy will ALWAYS be the People's Champion.

@johnykoop what about the 4: 1 in bloemfontain?

i rank this event in the top 3 most devastating sporting results... alongside 1990 penalty shoot out against west germany, 1996 penalty shoot out against germany in Euros,

So there it is, the final Jimmy ALMOST won. If only he hadn't missed that ... well all very easy to think what if now, but I don't think Jimmy gets enough credit for how long he's been around. The third most successful player in the game surely. Been around for a rivalry with Davis, Alex Higgins, now Hendry, just couldn't manage to win. Yes, I know he faced Parrot too, but that wasn't a lasting rivalry. Seems like he's enjoyed more than one era. Davis and Hendry. Rivals for both. Wow.

Hendry had it so easy in the early to mid nineties.

I put Jimmy in the same category as Ryan Giggs in as far as natural talent, entertaining professionalism and good sportsmanship goes. One day Jim. One day...

Ibelieve Jimmy will win the world title of the jungle next year.

i dont think he practices enough now. doubtful he would get through the qualifiers. it was a bit sad seing him playing at the masters this year, i think hes finished. although i'd love to be proven wrong.

Really White was in the wrong place at the wrong time-Hendry was on the up. But when Jimmy got hammered by Parrott in 1991 I feared the worst for him at the Crucible. At Wembley, Jimmy was lethal.
call me crazy, but Jimmy White is still in the game. So he still has that half a chance to win that one world title he really needs. Of course, he is well over the top, nearing 50 years of age.. but he is still in the game! The probability is tiny, but it's there! Jimmy White can still do it. Even though his days of glory were well before my time I really would want to see him win it!
