Click on "show more" below: Hi, I design, build, modify, and restore tube amplifiers. This is demo of one of my Fender Vibro Champ amp restoration and repairs that was slightly "tone tweaked" and modified for a special recording project. Most of my vintage amp mods are fully reversible maintaining the original integrity of the piece. This amp was recorded in another quick production experiment this time using CuBase software w/ slight built-in reverb and compression to play around w/ the software's effects to see how it would come out and affect the amp's recorded sound. It kind of gave mixed results but thought I'd put it here anyway for fun. I also used a free slideshow program as you can see on some of the slides - sorry.
What you hear is the result of another "labor of love". If you require service of your own, I can work on virtually any amp and improve on it or shape it's tone in one way or another like an artist with a painting. Thanks for taking the time to check this out. Keo

  • is that speak alnico or ceramic ? what kind of tone does it give the vibrochamp over stock ? I am wanting to replace my stock speaker, I like the pretty chime of fender cleans, so that is waht i would be going for, vintage weber are meant to be good, is the alnico more for breaking up in these amps ?

  • @UKToneKing - It is an alnico Blue Pup by Weber Speakers. I tend to like the British ribbed & bright speakers. It might be what you're likely looking for or get a ceramic one.

In general, ceramic speakers tend to have a bit more natural headroom than alnicos. Their breakup is a bit later and then it comes on a bit harder than alnico & alnico tends to be a bit sooner but smoother & more natural as it starts to break up.

The recording doesn't show this or do it justice to how it sounds live.

  • I still have my silverface vibrochamp, still not got round to changing the speaker lol but I came across a nice strat plus that I just had to have lol next on my list is a speaker though and I was thinking of making another little cab about the same size as the vibrochamp and stick another 8" in it and have a 2*8 setup, could go for a 15 or so something but I like the tight sound of smaller speakers, well for home use anyway, so adding another 8" speaker cab would open it up nicely I think

  • Hey man send me an email... or message me through this thing and we will talk about some stuff... I have alot of tube amps that could use work depending on price... the last amp tech.
