I must say it's not really acapella, since it's not voice only, but very near. Worth listening, completely!
This Is a version of the Carpenters song with Karen's sweet and perfect voice, and some beat instruments, such as drums, and bass, only. This is actually one of the audio channels from the SACD, and it's really clean. It's enough to close your eyes and have Karen Carpenter singing exclusively for you, as if she were in the same place as you or if you were in the studio having her singing with no intruments but drums and bass. Isn't this voice simply perfect? Love Karen Carpenter.

  • Anyone know who was the bass player on that track?

  • @Morganizer Hello! Joe Osborn in the bass player on this track.

  • Magnificent vocal performance. The song's obviously talking about depression of which she suffered on and off during her life. I suffer from depression as well so this song is both sad, yet poetic to me.

  • in 1975 i was 10 years old and i caught "scarlet fever" , I was locked in a room for 6 days so i didn't infect my brothers and sister. My mom bought me food and drink and took pity on my by giving me books and a record player. she also gave me all her carpenters albums. I ended up listening to the carpenters over and over. when i came out of that room i knew karen personally ( i felt) . I'm grown now with kids and grandkids, but i'll never forget how her voice comforted me back then

  • rainy days and mondays and karen carpenter always get me down!

  • @definitedoll yeah with the "hot" pick-ups so you can really hear the sound of the strings up against the frets.

  • I love that early 1970's bass. Sounds like "the sound" at that time that they used in other songs of that era. Miss it greatly!
