the idea of shooting a 22 cal handgun is that you can shoot the ever loving piss out of it for cheap...and learn the fundamentals of tactics, marksmanship, handgun handling ect. ..until you graduate to the real handgun rounds calibers.

It doesn't matter what caliber the firearm is. It matters where your shots land. If you are a terrible shot a .50 cal won't save your life, so female or not carry and shoot what works for you.
