A close view of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, a former city gate and one of the main symbols of Berlin and Germany. It is located west of the city center. One block to the north stands the Reichstag. In the last war days of May 1945, the Brandenburg Gate and Quadriga were destroyed. Berlin was divided in four sectors.

The gate, was in the Soviet sector during the division of Berlin and became again fair its original function as a town-gate. It separated the British and Soviet sector, east and west.
