Both the Famicom and NES are essentially the same machine released for different markets. Take a look at the basic differences between the two here in this overview. Part 2 will be an in depth comparison (coming soon).

  • will the retro duo clone work with the dsk system with an adapter?

  • Probably. I never tried it, but it should work.

  • dommiesan, @ 01:43, did you pull the NES game pad by the cord?

If you did, that was very wrong, you should pull it by holding the plastic connector plug, and this will reduce the risk of damaging the inner wires of the cable and extend the life span of the controller pad.

    Nice clean video.

  • Nah, I yanked it out by the hard molded plastic plug.

I'm paranoid about the controller wires. I don't even let anybody wrap the cord around the controller when they're done playing with them. That can damage the wires over time as well.

  • the bigger the better americans are dumb

  • here in the philippines we have the family computer because of asian market..and for me the NES version is much nicer than our family computer..but they have the same power and very enjoyable to play. i also have the NES (us version). miss those days. so nostalgic.sorry for bad english.

  • @dommiesan No, the NOAC on the RD does not recognize the MMC on the FDS's RAM cartridge

  • @Saiyuki204 Yes, and if you think the version of Metal Gear released for the famicom was any different, that's not true. Metal Gear was released for the MSX.

  • the Us verson of metal gear sucked Ass! you dont even fight metal gear at the end of the game!

  • at 0:39 you misspelled nintendo...

  • arent ppl who watch this video generally more advanced or knowledgable? good video but too detailed with obvious and really slow

  • @bandaloo1

They didn't invented anime(which is basically an abbreviation of animation.) Although I do agree the famicom is better than the NES RPG and sound wise. And I hate it when Developers have to censor their games due to Nintendo of America policies!

  • Why is Japanese stuff always so much cooler??????? Burgers aside, they invented Godzilla, Pacman, and anime!

  • i had to get rid of my nes, tired of changing the pin set so it doesn't blink... my famicom on the other hand works like a genesis, starts up right away.
