A Petition for New Jersey! (Visiting Sewaren)

Hi guys, I am a Rutgers Student in New Jersey and this is basically a class project set afire. I hope you enjoy the media I collected from all over Jersey, including the Atlantic Highlands, way down rt 35 (Point Pleasant Beach & Further), Rutgers Gardens, my view of Jersey from New York, and other local areas.

Update: The process is dreadfully slow. I know it has been a while since my post, but I am looking forward to visiting some offices to sort out SOMETHING... that could even slightly improve the area.

I used to live in Woodbridge Area. It's sad that people litter & destroy our enviroment. If I still live I would help with Clean up. It the same where In the Poconos. People litter the ground. I recently drove a busy road & found a broken dresser on the side of the road. It's just terrible People need to stop littering!

The refinery that you cite in your video is not the Bayway Refinery (it is in Linden). The ones adjacent to Sewaren are owned by Hess. Most of the trash on the beach comes from people throwing trash in the streets. The trash washes down the storm drains and out into the Arthur Kill & other waterways. Of course, it would be great to have a bottle bill in NJ to discourage people to toss their plastic and glass bottles in the street....perhaps you can work on that issue? Great video, BTW!

I wish you well with your efforts and your class project. I was born and raised in Sewaren, and now live in Texas. I'm not certain that blame can be placed on the refineries. They were there when I was a child and I used to swim in that river and sun on that beach as did many other people. I'm 62 now, so I'm talking about in the 50's and even early 60's. After my return from the Navy in '71, I saw the change had begun. The attitude of people is what concerns me. Everywhere, not just Sewaren.

it was that way 20 years ago and its going to stay that way because no one cares in woodbridge. AS a resident in Sewaren Ive never seen anyone take much action! I wish they would clean it up.

I used to live on Sewaren Ave. I lived in Woodbridge, NJ from 82 to 04. Miss it...a little. I miss what it USED to be, not what it is now.

You seem to be trying to make a point.But your video is a bet confusing.Being a Sewaren Resident,living here over 39 years.You see what is around,you live and love your town,that after awhile,You dont see the tanks or crap that covers the ground.People fight over this issue many many years and get no where.Good luck with your Petition.I moved out over 9 years ago.Yet coming back home is "home' even though I don't live there.

The Sewaren water front is on of my favorite spots to go to. I wish they would clean it ip a little better.
