While investigating the tide pools, we were awestruck to see a mature sea otter enter the shallow calm tide pool and proceed to hunt for clams. The otter payed no mind to the 25 or so spectators no more than 12 feet away, and successfully gathered and ate 10 mango pit sized white clams. The red nose looked to be some sort of growth.

  • A guide once told me that the red nose is caused by males biting the nose during mating. Cool Video.
