I had the chance to see the whole "lamb" concert in the 70 with Peter Gabriel in front.. it was almost like a religious ceremony... People were absolutely fascinated and quiet, really listening to the music, and I remember that when they sang "The carpet crawlers" I was almost flying!
They did the same thing in Buffalo. Morons. I, for one, enjoyed those final moments with the band. After all they've done for me these past 17 years, I figured it was the least I could do.
I would have chosen the real Genesis, and anyway, TMB doesn't even play where I live. As for the audience, I can tell you right now that the crowd was made up of 3-man-era fans. They didn't give a crap about The Carpet Crawlers. I remember the night they came to Michigan, after the two Sea songs played, these two women in front of me didn't clap, not that I saw, and they were whispering to each other. I thought "what's the matter, too prog for you?" Feh.

Mike and Tony did backing vocals on this song during the tour, so I imagine it was the latter.
