@jdrock14 Here's my final salvo. The only point you ever tried to make was that EVH is a schmuck and in no way as good as Howe, mostly because he doesn't play as much acoustic. Mine is that EVH and Howe are both elite players who could certainly play each others material if they so chose. I never even wanted to talk about EVH and came here to admire Howe,. But somebody started hacking EVH apart claiming he could never play a tune like Clap. I speak up when ignorant statements are made.

@tonusaitis You missed the point on the banjo. EVH never plays without a pick, a high end acoustic player uses all 10 fingers. It's an art form in which, you're either gifted or you spend half your life mastering. If EVH could play an acoustic like the best of them, trust me, he would. You don't seem to truly understand the difference between the two, so, I'm done here. Good luck to you, and enjoy EVH for who he is, not who he isn't.

@jdrock14 I've never heard any banjo playing in Van Halen's music, so I doubt it. But there's no more reason for EVH to play a banjo than there is for him to juggle chainsaws or scale Mt. Everest. I'm sure though that with his hand strength and agility he could if he set his mind to it and practiced it for a week. So could Steve Howe (there isn't any banjo in any Yes tunes either, but I'm sure he could play it). But it's moot because neither player's material ever called for banjo playing.

@jdrock14 I maintain that EVH would have no problem playing Clap if he wanted to. Too bad we can't wager on that because you'd be handing me money for sure! This piece is hard, but in no way impossible to play. In fact, a 14 year old kid named Zach is seen playing it with Jon Anderson. Check it out, the clip is on You Tube. Teens can play Howe's stuff, too! And bringing players like Demiola into this argument is stupid. He's a jazz player while EVH is a rock player - apples vs. oranges.
