the horn is a wind midi controller so i send a wireless data stream to the computer, which controls a synthesizer.

Ive played flute for 9 years, and I just ordered a WX5. I plan to play it in my friends rock band. How much does it differ from an acoustic flute?

yes. it has a "flute" mode, a "sax" mode and a "wx" mode, but the fingerings are relative to the clarinet. the breath pressure is programmable, so, yes, you do need to blow into it, but how hard is up to you.
