Very powerful film, both emotional and frightening at times.
In case anyone is curious, Karen Silkwood's family sued Kerr-McGee and got Gerry Spence to represent them pro bono. They won and the court ordered Kerr-McGee to pay $10.5 million to the Silkwood family.

My brother works in a nuclear facility Indian point to be exact and he's been contaiminated a few times, they have it marked on the floor and where you cant go and he stepped out of the marking on the floor a few times. Also the security there is a joke and you dont need clearence to fly above it.if a plane crashed there you could say good-bye to upstate N.Y,thats scary in my book

To Fern St. Clair: Yes, I remember hearing that her kids received some settlement money.

I moved to Edmond OK [where the 3 subjects lived], in 1976, and the story was still on everyone's mind and lips at that time. It made a powerful impact on me. Did Karen's children ever receive any of the settlement money? [BTW, I moved to Edmond from Wyoming, and I've never heard of Gerry Spence doing anything pro bono!]

This movie was so sad, the saddest part being that it was based on true events and that corrupt corporations still get away with their dark secrets and lies even yoday, and even worse, this movie has been forgotten over the years. It is to me one of the best movies I've ever seen, because it didn't need anything dramatic added to prove a point, the whole idea was traumatic and real enough that it really makes you wonder unlike movies today.

It's probably the pressure, I can't imagine hot water would really make a difference.
