  • If all Montessori teachers act like the "I was personally trained by Montessori's neighbor's cousin's best friend" types I see commenting on videos here then I thank God we opted to home school. Seriously, just what "lesson" does that kind of elitist, rude attitude teach children?

  • my question in relation to what you ment by primary age, just purely ment that in my country we consider primary age children regardless of montessori or not as 4-12, ie they are in primary school.

before writing letters, they need to know the diferent characteristics of letters, no problem if you dont do it but i find it works well esp for those children that find it hard over a long period.

  • well we'll have to agree to disagree so, im AMI trained and we learnt this as an activity although i do it differently, they are the same strokes (cant think of the right word atm) that i do.

  • This is actually NOT a Montessori activity. I was trained by Margaret Stephenson, who was personally trained by Dr. Montessori. If you had been properly trained, you would know that "primary" refers to ages 3-6 in Montessori terms and Montessori schools can go up to junior high. You would also know that Montessori children revel in "real" work, so we show them how to write actual letters, or numbers on a chalkboard, in sand, or on paper.

  • this is actually a montessori activity, those shapes are all aspects of letters, thus preparing the child for writing letters.

Im not sure what you mean by primary age children, but montessori can go up to age 12.

This exercise is usally done at around 4 yrs of age.

  • So she has worksheets for primary-age children? I thought this was about Montessori environments.
