Gravity Compensation Modules - This video shows a gravity compensated modular manipulator arm actuated by ckBot modules. The system is designed to feel no effect of gravity on the manipulators regardless of configuration. The springs running along the length of the arm provide an exact counteracting force to gravity at every configuration of the system. We see the system staying aloft even when powered down, and watch it operate each degree of freedom in and out of plane. The nature of spring-based gravity compensation makes it inherently safer, and compliance is demonstrated.
