These troops were from B company, 2nd Battalion 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot.
The regiment was renamed the South Wales Borderers during a military re-organisation in 1881 and was largely made up of men from the industrial towns of central, West England. Though there was a substantial minority of Welshmen in the company.
There was also a small detachment of the no.5 Field Company, Royal Engineers under Lieutenant John Chard.

Well take it as you like but i think i merely laid out the facts.
A substantial minority, a large minority. That is, not the majority but still quite a large amount. So anywhere between roughly 20 and 49% of the total.
