The truth is that they are both good, in their own ways and with their own songs. Elaine definitely has the upper hand with Memory and is MUCH better at it. Equally, Barbra is far better, for example, with The Way We Were. Ultimately, they are 2 supurb artists with different, but equally valid taltents and voices - it is not helpful therefore, to compare them.

You are right. I don't wont know who is better, simply confront they different approach and interpretation of some songs because they are stylistically very different but with a very close repertory.

Andrew Lloyd Webber said it all when he said that when he saw Elaine on Broadway perform As If We Never Said Goodbye it was the best interpretation of that song he had ever seen, and he was right.

Totally unreasonable to compare the two.Same as comparing a Rolls Royce to a Bentley.Personal preference,both are the Rolls Royce and the Bentley of music.

if you get them both to play vice versa, it will not be as good as compared when they play their original characters. Although they are both beautiful singer and entertainer on thier own right.

I adore both of them, but NO ONE and i stress NO ONE can sing memory like elaine paige, just as NO ONE can sing the way we were like streisand, they are both amazing. just too difficult to compare two such amazing talents. To hear Elaine Paige sing the way we were doesn't sound right, but likewise to hear streisand sing memory doesn't sound right. they both will own those two songs forevermore, but to be honest if i'm looking for a musical song, i look for paige's version first.
