  • I have been cutting my own hair for twenty years now, ever since i joined the army back in the 90's.

Must have saved myself tens of thousands over the past two decades.

  • @stuartsbushcraftblog Thanks for the comment and more importantly thanks for serving our country....

  • I was surprised by this title of this video because I've always thought of cutting hair as a very human sharing/caring thing ...very personal and (forgive me for expressing this) your videos are so consumer oriented

I agree that there is a cost saving but there is a much more important reason for cutting each other's hair ...cutting/grooming is a gentle healthy way of touching each other and an opportunity for expressing how we like our hair

    an opportunity to share with

    care for

    each other

  • @gaiagale Appreciate the comment... I cut my hair myself in about 6 minutes... before hoping in the shower....

  • I used to cut my Husband and Sons hair back in the late 60's. We were poor then. All I used was an electric clipper with the attachemnents and some sharp sissors. Always worked great. Takes a little time to get the right use for the attachements. The lower ones for the lower back of the head and larger ones for the top. And sissors for proper triming but a great savings over time.

My Father used to cut my Brothers hair with the manual clippers but he always complained they pinched him.

  • @offscrenemoments Thanks for the comment....doing the back of my head on my own took about a year to learn....

  • Sometimes I cut my own hair. Honestly, the most important thing to have is one very good mirror and preferably a second one for behind...the visual cooridnation is kinda fun...watch the ears.

  • $20 hair scissors and a blade shaver will do just fine, forget the electric clipper and trimmer.

All that is needed is practice.

  • Great advice. I have a much simpler set which works fine for me. My 9yo son has never been to a barber or haircutting place. That's probably $500.00 I didn't have to spend. I also do my own hair and my husbands (though he sometimes has gone to a professional to look good for the stage). We're more of a long-haired family which makes hair easier to cut than closely trimmed.

Instead of shampoo, you can use baking soda. Rinse with water, then rinse with apple vinegar or even white vinegar.

  • @dustmonk74 Thanks, that's the whole idea....
