  • wow great birds & setup! when do they get louder chirpings? seems they are bit quiet.. hope they breed alot for the near future.. ciao! xD

  • @jacee8888 they were just being quiet... believe me, baby budgies are very noisy.... if its not the excited chirpings, its the eh-eh-eh sounds they make begging to be fed. This was just a rare quiet moment caught on camera!

  • I was looking into making a shed for my budgies. but i live out in Wyoming so always windy. is the fence mesh? like double so cats and other animals dont get in? SORRY i'm a new some what soon breeder. my uncle was one but he was a inside breeder.

  • @Javegirl you could turn a shed into an aviary - the most important thing is to make sure that there are no draughts, and that your birds can sleep in a wind-free environment. There was mesh on 2 sides of this aviary, and part of the roof too. You can install heating devices - although i havent had to do this. But my birds decided to breed in winter, which can cause egg binding and other problems, so i caged them and had them inside while they were laying and hatching babies.

  • looks like you made the aviary out of an aluminum tool shed, whatever works right

  • actually, i used to keep my budgies indoors in a big cage (i had 3 budgies at the time) but i moved to a house where there was an existing aviary - i just cleaned it up, decorated, and moved them in... and they seem to love it - although i bring them inside if it gets too hot, cold or windy.

  • I'm a complete scardy cat when it comes to domesticated birds out side! Even tho they would prob love to be outside I can't without a fresh cut of the wings and that gets rid of the fun of an aviary but great job!
