In Florida in 2009, 40% of people who received the death penalty were found later to have been innocent. It's too risky and unfair for a few people to decide one person's fate.

i think some muslim countries have the right idea. when found guilty, a family of the victim can choose death, life in prison, or pay blood money as punishment. i haven't lost a family member so i cannot judge the desire of a family member who wants the murderer of a loved one to die

Governments are the biggest hypocrites in the entire world.
They make laws where you are not even allowed to take your OWN life.
What owns your soul,it is not god nor the devil?
The goverment.
They will end your life at the stroke of a pen.

life is to be cherished...haven't you all seen that pixar movie Wall-E? instead of executing anyone, why not do organ transplants or something? Life is not to be wasted under any circumstances. Just ask someone who is dying.

@Repatillia...Before you attempt to compare the US to other countries (namely Japan), you should look at their Justice system and Penal institutions. As far as the lack of religious institutions, you are far off the mark, and need to reconsider your position. DO SOME RESEARCH!!!!

I agree with the death penalty in general. But I agree with this execution. 1000%. I lived through this. Me and my friends went to school in fear every day for almost a month. Everyone was scared to leave their house. I'm glad there is closure in this case now and that justice was served. Man, I can't believe it's been 7 years already since we were running scared of this man.
I support the death penalty and if people think I am no better than the murderer- so be it! If you are innocently killing people- you have no place in this society. You are an epic FAIL.
There is a difference in taking out the trash and killing children and innocent people.
So if people think Im wrong- oh well- I believe in it! Talking about methods?? Why haven't it worked and who is going to pay for it? Tax payers? Why bring it up & not expose it? An eye for an eye.

I think rehabilitation is perfect in certain cases, but when we are speaking of a "COLD BLOODED MURDERER" Then I feel like the best interest of society comes first.
