To all of you of the whole world.
Kumdo is stupid sports in imitation of Japanese old KENdo of Korea.
Please stop it immediately if you learn Kumdo now.
And I suggest to learn KENdo.
KEN of "KENdo" is a meaning called the swords, and "the DO" is a meaning called the ways.
kum of Kumdo does not have a meaning at all.
Japanese Bushido and keen mind is included in "KENdo".
There is mind to respect the enemy even if it is an enemy.
Please learn "KENdo" if you want to train true Bushido mind.

@TheFreeFlow 4 parts: head, wrist, waist, and neck.
Remember, long time ago, warriors wore this armors, so it's difficult to slice through the chest. Even if you are able to slice the chest, it takes way too much energy and movement, making the opponent notice the move and counter easily. On the other hand, the waist saves more movement speed than slicing through the chest.

omg rly? lol this sucks... wtf. And what are the other 3 legal parts?
Still I dont get it, specially a chest hit. It should be a half hit at least, I cant imagine anyone fighting at full strength after hes bin sliced in the chest, he would bleed and the pain would in nearly all cases limit his movements and strenght. Thats why I dont get it... Its true that a waist hit like this would be fatal with that swordstyle cause of the way its swung.

LOL I sparred my Master once at yellow belt..... lol He said, "Be PREPARED TO GO TO HELL!!"

well,,,I think we have all been there..
Knowing that all our attempts fail....
But I bet the student in the video was learning something at each moment....

This is a GREAT video!
I can not think of a better way for a student to learn, than to take on this Master.
I watched and felt bad, the student kept attempting to go up high for a head hit, and got hit in the chest every time....EVERY time....
the guy that's being owned feels sorry for himself too much after each strike, he should use that time in a better way imo :P

In kumdo, getting hit in the chest means nothing. It's not a legal hit and you won't get any points for hitting it. The master is striking at his waist, which is one of four legal, point-scoring hits.
