  • Hahaha, it's all good!

  • Tapping, Natural and Artificial Harmonics, working on translating these and other specialized techniques to fretless where it can be physically harder to pull them off.

...okay, so I screwed up. But you can't say I didn't cover it up decently. ;-)

  • What about the other 5%? Tapping?!

  • If the "Euro" is the Czech Republic-built version of the US Neck-Thru line, the "ReBop" is the Czech version of the US Bolt-On line. Given the woods used (Alder back/Maple top & Neck/Rosewood fretboard - classic Fender Jazz woods) Spector chose and it being a bolt-on it's kind of a cross between the classic "grindy" Spector tone and a Fender Jazz, which is what Spector was going for and nailed. 3 of my "main basses" are ReBops, and I can't imagine getting a neck-thru unless it was a gift.

  • Exactly: fingerstyle, picking, slapping... these are all *techniques*, and very much appropriate for all different types of songs.

I'd say I play 75% fingerstyle, 15% pickstyle, and 5% slapping, although I'm actively trying to improve my slapping technique (by far my weakest) - I very well not use it more than I do current, but I'll be BETTER when the time comes to do so.

Great playing, especially from :11 to :20... fingerstyle, picking, or what have you!

  • Agreed. I use each appropriately. 2 finger, 3 finger, slap n pop, pick, they all can be useful for different things.

  • i dont even use a pick... stopped about a year ago but i def dont knock pick players at all. doesnt matter how you play it, just so long that you do

  • Word, well said.

  • well on that note, and i think damn near every other bass player will agree with me...if you think like that, you dont A. deserve to be called a bassist and B. deserve to be a part of our family you fucking cock wrangler
